Coaching
CRN East of England is committed to supporting the workplace wellbeing of all staff within the East of England region.
Many organisations who work with CRN East of England are now offering coaching opportunities to staff members.
What is coaching?
Coaching is a process by which the coach and coachee work together to allow the coachee to work through a range of situations or issues they may face in the workplace, and build personal resilience.
Coaching is an opportunity to focus on personal development. The coach uses a combination of observation, questioning, listening and feedback to create a conversation that is rich in insight and learning for the coachee, who will be able to develop a greater awareness and appreciation of their own circumstances.
They will also create new ways to resolve issues, and develop skills and strategies so they feel empowered to take action.
Coaching requires a commitment on both sides. The coachee is actively involved in contributing information and identifying options for themselves with the willingness to challenge assumptions and explore new possibilities. The coach will provide a supportive environment and use techniques and strategies which are best suited to each coaching conversation.
Where can coaching have a positive impact?
Coaching can help you to:
Build resilience
Improve performance
Obtain a new perspective
Improve working relationships
Prepare for difficult conversations
Enhance their self awareness
further their career development.
What coaching isn't:
The coach is not there to impose views or ideas on an individual and will not tell the person what action to take
Coaching is not about giving an individual specific direction or doing things for them
A coach does not need to be an expert in the area that is being discussed and the role of the coach is not to provide answers
Coaching is not counselling - it is about looking forward and taking action.
