Assignments

The Assignments tool enables you to submit assignments in Brightspace, eliminating the need to print, mail, email, or physically walk to your instructor's office papers to instructors.

Submitting Assignments with Brightspace

Your instructor may ask you to use the Assignments tool to submit assignments directly within Brightspace. If you are unsure about how you are expected to submit your assignments, you should refer to your syllabus/assignment details, or contact your instructor.

If you choose to use the Files App to scan, you will need to do the following:

Before you start this, you will need to make sure you have your Google Workspace Account linked with Brightspace. You can do this by following the steps on the Student Getting Started page.

Note: As a student, it is your responsibility to ensure your assignment has been successfully submitted. Immediately upon submission, a file upload screen will appear notifying you of your submission. You will also receive an assignment submission email receipt confirming the details of your submission. FAQs

How do I know when a file has finished uploading?

When you go to upload a file, Brightspace should have a progress bar that will appear as the file is trying to upload. Larger files may take a bit more time to upload, especially if your internet connection is not stable or strong. Once your file has been uploaded successfully, you should see the file name turn into a blue link with a file size and an "X" next to it. From there, you will be able to click Add and submit the file to your assignment.

Can I submit a Pages file from my Mac?

It is not recommended to submit a Pages (.pages) file due to Brightspace being unable to process this file type. Instead, it is recommended to export your .pages file as a .docx, .pdf, or .txt file type. You can learn how to do this by visiting Apple's Export from Pages, Numbers or Keynote to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF and more guide.
