Enrollments and accounts are synced from Colleague to Brightspace every two hours during business hours, along with two more after-hours. This ensures students and faculty obtain access to their Brightspace courses in a timely fashion.
8:00am -> 10:00am -> 12:00pm -> 2:00pm -> 4:00pm -> 6:00pm -> 8:00pm
Enrollments and accounts are synced to Brightspace instantaneously from Lumens.
Students receive access to their courses in Brightspace when the 'Course Start' date occurs. By default, this value is set to three days before the course start date in Colleague. One exception is Z-courses, which open seven days early to account for week zero.
Students retain access to their Brightspace course until the Brightspace 'End Date' occurs. By default, the 'End Date' value is seven days after the course end date in Colleague.
The 7-day window can be extended with Program Dean approval if one of the following criteria is met:
A Final Grade Appeal is in the process of being filed.
The course will remain open for the student to access until the 45-day window is expired for grade appeals.
An Incomplete grade is given for the course.
The course will remain open for the student to access until the expiration date that is set on the Incomplete Contract Agreement.
Any changes to course start or end dates can be completed in the 'Course Admin' > 'Course Offering Information' area of Brightspace. The primary instructor or DIID team can alter the dates. For more information, please review the Student Access to Courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) policy.
