Pulse App
Use the Brightspace Pulse App for iOS or Android to keep current with your courses in Brightspace. The app features course updates, news, due dates and grades.
Visit the Android Google Play Store or Apple App Store & search for 'Brightspace Pulse' to download the app.
Did you know that you can receive push notifications for upcoming activities and other notifications from the Pulse App?!
Accessing and Using the Pulse App
Logging In To The Pulse App
Tap the Brightspace Pulse icon.
Learn more about Brightspace Pulse by swiping left/right, or proceed to the next step by tapping Next.
Tap Pick My School. You can quickly find NICC by typing Northeast Iowa Community College.
After you select NICC, the following screen will appear. Type the URL for NICC’s D2L Brightspace site in the Enter the Web address field, and then press Connect. Enter: nicc.brightspace.com
Enter your NICC login credentials, and then tap Log In.
Make sure to accept that you want to receive notifications.
The Pulse app defaults to the Courses tab when you log in to Brightspace Pulse.
Pulse App Interface for IOS
The Calendar tab includes Schedule and Week sub-tabs to toggle between views: Schedule view displays a complete list of all activities for the duration of your courses. Week view displays a list of activities for the selected day and a graph that displays the week's activities at a glance.
The Courses tab displays all courses and course content. By default, this tab displays when you log in to Brightspace Pulse.
The Notifications tab displays course content updates from D2L Brightspace and allows you to read and reply to discussion threads.
The activity list displays To-dos, Readings, Assignments, and Evaluations. Navigate activities by swiping up or down. Swiping left/right moves to the next/previous week. As you navigate, the graph updates. Tapping an activity displays detailed information and actions you can perform. Tapping a gray checkmark icon marks the activity as complete (i.e. a green checkmark).
From the Calendar tab, with the Week view selected, the graph indicates which days are the busiest. Navigate weeks by swiping left/right or using apple VoiceOver. As you navigate, the activity list updates. Tapping a day updates the activity list.

The Course filter icon filters the Schedule and Week view by courses and/or activities.
The Settings icon allows you to log out, provide feedback, or view the version number.

Upload Photos from Your Phone to an Assignments
Shoot! Take photos of all of the assignment pages you need to submit. We will access these in the assignment submission. Also, download the Brightspace Pulse app if you do not already have it. Brightspace Pulse is available for download from any global Google PlayTM Store or Apple App Store®.
Select the Brightspace Pulse app on your phone and your homepage will appear. Courses you have pinned will be displayed first.
Select the course you want to access and the course will open.
You will see the same table of contents that you see in Brightspace. Select a module and then select a content link that you would like to access.
Click on the blue link to submit your assignment photos to the assignment folder. This may be located at the bottom of the assignment page under ‘How & Where to Submit’. If you do not see this area, locate the assignment you need to upload to and proceed to Step 6.
When the Assignment folder appears, click on ‘Add a File’.
An Upload screen will appear. Select ‘upload’ and choose ‘Photo Library’. Note: ‘Photo Library’ may also be referred to as ‘Files’ or ‘Pictures’ or something similar, depending on your device.
Your device’s photos will appear. Select each photo that you need to submit. A checkmark will appear on each image that will be uploaded. Choose the ‘Add’ button.
You will see a green bar showing the process of the images uploading. When complete, the images will appear on the screen. Select the blue ‘Add’ button.
The Assignment page will appear with all of your uploaded photos listed. If you would like, add a note to your instructor in the ‘Comments’ box. Then, choose ‘Submit’.
Review the submission page and select ‘Done’. You will receive an email to your @NICC email to notify you the assignment was submitted.

How do I log in to the Pulse App?
Once you have the app installed and opened, you will need to search for and select Northeast Iowa Community College
After you have selected the college, you will need to sign in with your NICC account information
How do I submit files from my Google Drive through the Pulse App?
Make sure you have connected your NICC Google Workspace Account with Brightspace by following the steps on the Student Getting Started Page
Once you are connected, go to the activity you are trying to submit to
Go to where you can attach a file and tap Choose Existing
Tap Google Drive
Tap on the file you wish to attach
Tap Upload
Tap the Submit button when you file has finished uploading
How do I change Notifications and other Settings in the Pulse App?
In the app, tap on the NICC logo in the top left
Tap Settings
Tap on the setting you wish to adjust
From there, you can adjust any settings as needed. Please note that some settings will or will not require you to Save so please be sure to read the instructions carefully to make sure your settings change as desired.
