Use the Announcements tool to read news and information about your courses or other NICC Brightspace information.
Announcements items appear in the Announcements widget, but through your notification settings, you can also receive instant notifications about postings through email, SMS, and RSS feeds. Visit the Getting Started page to learn how to set up notifications.
Locate the ‘Announcements’ widget. The ‘Announcements’ widget is found on the NICC Brightspace homepage and also on your course homepage.
To dismiss an announcement so it no longer appears in the ‘Announcement’ widget, click the ‘X’ on the right side of an announcement.
If you need to restore an announcement into the ‘Announcements’ widget, you can do so by clicking on the ‘Announcements’ link in the widget.
Locate the announcement you would like to restore. Any announcement that is dismissed from the widget is shown with an indicator of “(dismissed)” next to it.
Click the dropdown arrow next to an announcement you wish to restore. Select the ‘Restore’ option. The announcement will now appear in the Announcements widget again.
It is possible that your instructor set an expiration date for the Announcement. When these dates are met, the Announcement will no longer be available to anyone except for the instructor. Please note that all Announcements should send you a notification via email, so you can look in your NICC Gmail for previous Announcements.
You can sign up for text notifications by clicking on your Brightspace Profile, selecting Notifications, entering your phone number, and then clicking Save. Please note that text messages can be blocked by your cellular provider and text messaging rates may apply.
