Bradford Pear

Pyrus calleryana Decne.

Small tree with deciduous, simple leaves on a single trunk that tends to split with age. In the spring the tree is covered in white malodorous flowers. 

Distribution: Native to China and Vietnam.  Introduced into North America in the 1900s.

Uses: Invasive plants in many states.  Used as an ornamental. Bradford pear is particularly susceptible to limb breakage.
