Overview: Turnips are a cool weather crop and can be grown and harvested twice in a year in early spring and early fall. It is a root vegetable with both edible roots and edible stems and leaves and are known as a good substitute for potatoes.

Planting Instructions:
Best planted in spring 2-3 weeks before the last frost date.
till the soil about 12-15 inches deep (if in a pot make sure it's at least 12-15 inches deep).
Sow seeds directly into soil. (As a general rule root vegetables don't transfer well)
Plant about a 1/4 - 1/2 inch deep 1 inch apart in rows of 12 to 18 inches apart. (Also can just spread they seeds out and can thin them out later.)

Can be grown in both spring and fall (cool weather plant)
Plant into a neutral soil plot. If your looking for big leaves and less root plant in high nitrogen soil. If your looking for big roots then avoid Nitrogen rich soil.
Harvesting:
The leaves can be harvested usually within a month.
Within 2 months the roots will be ready for Harvest.
The Autumn crop is known to be sweeter and more tender than the spring crop
To Harvest seeds let your turnips flower and wait for them to turn brown, then harvest the seed pos and break them open to collect the seeds.
