Average Speed = Distance Traveled / Time Taken
Example
What was Sue’s average speed if she traveled 300 meters in 6 minute?
300 meters / 6 minutes=50 m/min
Distance = Average Speed(Time)
Example
How far did Tom travel if he drove his car 60 m/sec for 6 sec?
360 m = 60 m/sec (6 sec)
Time = Distance / Average Speed
Example
How long did it take Taylor to travel 140 meter driving 70 meters/sec?
140 m / 70 m/sec=2 sec
Acceleration= Change in velocity
Change in time
Acc= [Ending vel.-Beginning vel.]
[Ending time-Beginning time]
Ex. A rocket increases from 200 m/s to 800 m/s from 4 to 6 seconds into the launch.
Acc= [Ending vel.-Beginning vel.]
[Ending time-Beginning time]
800-200 = 600 m/s = 300 m/s2
