Self Portrait Linoprint
Reverse: Black and White design
Reverse on Lino Block using ballpoint pen and carbon paper
Colour Scheme: choose 2 distinct light and dark colours to mark out skin and background. At the bottom, write down the steps of printing, which is, for me, yellow, red, then black.
First print: Using a similar colour that I have planned in the colour scheme, print the first print.
Print the same colour for at least 3 times, preferably 5 times.
This is my second print.
This is my third print.
I was not supposed to add the background into it, so I wiped off the excess paint with a cloth.
This is my fourth print.
Referring to the colour scheme paper, cut out the parts that have been coloured yellow.
I did a test print to look at where I could cut more, so that my prints would look cleaner.
I did another test print and found that my cutting was quite clean, so I can print my lino onto the first print. The ink on this print was a bit dry, so I could have sprayed some water on the paint.
This is my first print. I used the lino coated with red ink, print it onto the first prints to overlap them.
This is my second print.
Final cut (I forgot to take a photo)
Based on the colour scheme, it is cut red print black. So, I cut out the background of the lino, and I would be left with the lines that are traced out using the permanent marker.
This is my first test print after cutting out the background. It is quite clean, but I can just wipe off the excessive paint in the background with a cloth. The colour is not solid too.
This is my second test print. I could still have wiped off the excessive paint, but the colour is quite solid.
This is my first print. I proceeded to use black ink to print on my actual piece of paper, which had the first print and the second print. The paper was a bit dirty on both sides, since I did not dry my hands after I washed the lino. I also did not clean off the excess black colour in the background. I prefer this print because the black colour is more solid and outlines the face clearer
This is my second print. There is some patches on my hair, even after I printed the black colour 2 times on the paper. there is also a bit of smudge at the bottom because the paper moved when I was printing.
I did another one because it had a solid background colour.
