LINOCUT 1st draft - leaf progression
drawing
I liked that we were taught to do dotted lines first. it made the drawing less intimidating/hard.
1st cut
I felt very weird holding this knife. But i think i did quite ok for my first time
2nd cut
I was happy with this background
1st print
Very proud of myself although its quite grainy.
My self portrait lino art
outlined portrait
It felt relatively easy and fun to do.
flipped
Having to constantly flip back and check if i drew the correct was quite a hassle
traced on lino
This step was ok. Process still felt quite weird.
colour scheme
figuring what i wanted to keep and how i could make my artwork look nicer was the hard part
PRINTING
1st cut 1st print
I struggled to not get paint in the small little cuts and put too much paint. I think this one looks very ugly.
1st cut 2nd print
I did not realize the middle had no ink. It looked perfectly fine to me when i did the roller step but it very outrageously came out an empty hole. I had expected to do better than the first time.
1st cut 3rd print
It still looks a bit weird. I i cant really see the shape of my eyes clearly. I wasnt satisfied with this print
1st cut 4th print
Not very different from the 3rd but the sides are more cleaned up. Still not very satisfied.
1st cut 5th print
After deciding to change up my eyes and cut more, i can definitely see my eye shape better. But i think i took too long waiting to get to the printing station and the ink dried up very fast. This would be acceptable if there was more ink.
1st cut 6th print
I am quite satisfied with this because you can finally see my eyes properly. But the neck and surrounding face area is a bit too grainy.
1st cut 7th print
I tried to make it less grainy and made my cuts more precise and clean.
well done:)
2nd cut test print
Not very bad for a test print. The forehead part has a lot of unwanted ink though, and I thought it looked a bit too patchy/grainy.
2nd cut test print 2
This one turned out even more grainy than the 1st and the forehead ink was still there after my attempt to cut that part deeper. A little bit annoyed.
2nd cut test print 3
I tried to put less ink so that the forehead wouldnt get ink but that didnt work and the middle section got a bit hole. Still grainy.
2nd cut 1st print
I tried to print it on one of my failed 1st cuts. The forehead ink is less obvious and I think this one turned out okay. I just need to stop making it grainy
2nd cut 2nd print
I suddenly understood the logic that the face did not need to be printed. I think this print is ok.
2nd cut 3rd print
This one the left side ink is a bit unsightly. And there are a lot of dots. I wanted to improve from this.
2nd cut 4th print
The inking is kind of ugly with the very obvious painting. But after it dried up it looked better (in my opinion).
final cut test print
One eye completely cannot see details. I guess its ok for a test print. I went to cut the eye deeper afterwards.
final cut 3rd print
The hair on the right side was not done very well. I feel very accomplished after so many weeks of cutting and printing and cutting and printing. This colour scheme is not bad. I like it (kind of).
I'm most satisfied with this print of all.
extra picture of my final cut lino
FINALLY THIS ART IS DONE!!! I had fun doing it with my friends. Thanks to all the teachers
U r most welcome.
Glad you enjoyed the process. Impressive work with bold lines and colours. I also like your detailed and organized presentation above.
