Step 1. Draw design on paper.
Step 2. Carve out lino-print.
Final cut of design.
Step 4: Print your finished carving. Artwork complete!
MY LINOPRINT PORTRAIT
Step 1. Sketch black and white spaces using pencil. (Mark out the shadows and what is going to be cut)
Step 2. Using the light box, draw the reverse of your original sketch on the other side of the paper using 4B pencil. Colour the colours you wish to use in.
Step 3. Then, using the reversed portrait, use a ballpoint pen and carbon paper to draw your reversed portrait onto linoprint. Outline with permanent marker.
Step 4. Cut white, make sure to cut deep if not yellow blotches will appear in white parts
Step 5. Print yellow, just print face area
Step 6. After 5-6 prints (that I did not take pictures of), cut yellow, print blue
first print, I added too much water to the blue paint so it looks watery and run down
second print. Slightly better, the paint is a bit insufficient as you can see the white
third print. Too dry
fourth print. Better than the previous one, just need more paint
fifth print
Step 7. After satisfied, print blue on yellow.
Print one
Print two. The white is covered up by the yellow, so this is just a prototype. As you can see, the background is a bit yellow, so this shows that the paint cannot be watery as the yellow paint below would be activated.
Print three, too much blue paint
(I didn't take pictures of the rest)
Step 7. After this, cut blue print black.
Black print (did not take pictures of the others)
My black prints are good
Step 8. Once satisfied, print black on the yellow and blue print. What you see on top is my first try printing it. It is a failed attempt as I did not put enough black paint
The second print was better but it was still blotchy.
Step 8. Print until satisfied. This is my best attempt!
