Step 1: Line drawing of a cat
Step 2: Lino cut in progress.
Lino cut still in progress (working on the background)
I ran out of time so I was not able to print the cat
I over-estimated my own skills and drew something that was very difficult for my first time which caused me to be very slow .
step 1: I chose a picture of myself and printed it out in black and white. Afterwards, I traced over it, shading the areas I will be cutting out later on the lino
Step 2: On the other side of the paper, I traced it out and shaded it in so that when it is transferred to the lino, using carbon paper, it will come out flipped
Step 3: After shading, I chose the colours yellow and purple for the background and me. Making sure that they are contrasting colours
Step 4: After transferring the sketch, I went over it with permanent marker and I had to fill in the empty space below before I started cutting the lino.
I first cut out thw white parts and printed the first print with the colour yellow. ( forgot to take picture)
After cutting out the yellow and purple parts, I could finally print the blacl parts. This is the first test print on a different paper. The first test print had many white spaces and did not came out that good.
This is the second test print . It came out better but still had some white spots
I took some time to make sure that the purple colour and yellow colour prints came out consistent with around 3-4 prints each
This is a print with the colours yellow and black
This is the frist print with all three colours but the black came out a bit smudged and there was too much black paint which covered up some of the details, like the eyes, and had some whites spaces
This print came out better than the first one with lesser white spaces and clearer lines. This is the final print. However, there was still some black smudges on the background due to uneven cutting.
