my self portrait linoprint
Shading of my self portrait
It was relatively easy to outline and shade as the picture colour was lightened.
Reverse shading
I used the lightbox for this so it was much easier to shade.
Shading on linocut
I had to refer to the shading many times as the transfer from the paper onto the linocut wasn't successful, hence the marks weren't clear.
Colouring on paper self portrait
The 3,2,1 was confusing so I had a difficulty understanding the concept, but I finally understood after my friend explained.
This is my first cut. I had difficulties cutting my eyes and lips as it was a very small area, so I had to be very patient.
This is my first print, I put too much paint hence it covered all my facial features
This my second print, there was some grainy parts and i could have cleaned the parts apart of the face better
This is my third print, the sides were cleaner compared to the last print, but there were still grainy parts
This is my fourth print, the shade of blue was wrong and there were still grainy parts. I could have done a lot better for this print.
This is my second cut, this took me longer than the first cut as I had to cut a larger area.
This is my 1st print. There are areas without paint and it appears to be grainy. I did not clean my first cut print properly so it can be seen from this print.
This is my 2nd print. I did not print my first cut print properly so it affected this print, which explains the white area.
This is my 3rd print. This was a much better print than the last 2, but at the shirt area, it was still a bit grainy.
this is my third cut
this is my first test print, I realise that I didn't cut deep enough for some parts hence it affected my print
I printed on a print without my first print, the blue colour, as I wasn't confident I can produce a perfect final print then
This is my 1st final print. There was some blank patches which could mean i did not apply enoguh paint for that area or the paint could be too dry.
This is my 2nd final print. This print was a bit messy, I could have wiped off the blank paint better at some parts.
This is my 3rd final print. This was a better print compared to the last 2. However there were still some parts with black paint, it may be because I didn't cut my linoprint deep enough. Nonetheless, I'm still proud of this print.
