drawing - I drew the dog based on a japanese cartoon character pochacco. I find pochacco really cute and suitable to cut out into a lino
3rd draft- It was too little ink this time but I feel like it was so much better than the 2nd draft. The "scar" is gone but it was still really hard to control the amount of ink to print!
carving- the carving was rather smooth and my progress for the carving was pretty quick after I learned how to use the cutting knives more efficiently
2nd draft- I think I lost my picture of the first draft somehow when I transfered all the pictures. I feel like my second draft was too much ink and that I could cut the huge "scar" on the dog's forehead.
pencil tracing over printed pic- It was easy tracing the pencil marks over, but it was quite hard to give myself artistic "scars"
pen tracing on carbon paper to trace onto rubber board, this allows me to transfer the tracing I made over the paper to the rubber board easily.
It wasn't hard to trace it over but I poked the paper really hard it tore :(
rubber board outline by carbon paper
Outline was pretty smooth! I was really satisfied but- why do I look so wierd this way ?
outline where to cut out , colour the parts that I would not cut
I took half a lesson to do this and I used quite a lot of pen ink-
plan on how to print- this allows me to be more clear of my steps and procedure and ensure there are fewer mistakes made
It was tough choosing the colors... there werent many colours to choose from
First and second layer print ( I forgot to upload the first layer print )
I love the fact that I actually printed out the parts successfully! And there weren't any messy marks on my face!
second layer test print
third layer test print
Even though I finished my artwork with three different layers printed, but I did not have the chance to upload the final piece :( , by the time I realized it was too late already!
I really enjoyed the carving module. Even though I believe that I could have done better and made my artwork more artistic and be more efficient, and that I should not have been very impatient and reluctant to make many prints for backup, but since I am still a beginner at carving, I feel like this is a pretty good start to begin with !
