This is my drawing of a cat, one of reasons I drew a cat is because I have one at home, cats are also my favourite animals.
I changed the flower on the bottom right because it looked too hard to carve out.
This is my finished lino and I think that I could better in terms of its aesthetic of the lino, for example the lines could have been more precise and neater. I also added more leaves to fill up the blank space.
I feel like my first print was my best one, the ink is consistent and there are little to no white spaces in the inked areas.
The print was not printed well as the inked areas are a little bit splotchy and empty.
This print was also not as well as the first print as it was very splotchy and unclear.
Self Portrait Lino Print
Trace an outline and colour in the places which are shadows in pencil.
I think it was quite difficult for me to know where to colour the shadows as the picture was not that obvious.
Trace over the pencil outlines with a permanent marker and turn the paper over so it is reversed when it is transferred to the lino. Therefore, when you print , it will be in the original direction.
I found my face to look a bit funny because I am not used to seeing my face inverted T^T
Choose two colours other than black for the skin and background. Write down which colours to cut and print at each step.
I chose blue and yellow, however I still was quite confused as to what to do.
Use a piece of carbon paper to trace your outline onto the lino.
The lines made using the crabon paper were not very easy to see as it was so faint, so if i ever do lino next time i will used more pressure.
Firstly cut the white and print yellow, after that cut the yellow parts and print blue. Lastly cut the background and print black.
The process was quite tedious and it was quite hard to cut the lino block so that the lines would be neat. However I think it was a very fun experience!
Print the first colour.
The print ended up being very patchy and it was very hard ensuring the ink on the linoblock was enough.
The ink was less patchy this time however the sides were not very nice and it looked very messy around the hair area.
This was the best out of the three tries, the ink is not patchy and the ink is covering the area nicely and neatly.
Print the second colour.
This is probably the nicest out of the three, the blue was not as patchy as the rest and the area is almost covered with only a few white spots.
The right side of the print is very white and barely covered.
The right side is quite patchy however it is quite covered
Print the black on the first and second colours.
I think the end result is quite nice , as the colours mostly overlapped however the background can be further improved on as the yellow was not very covered.
Print black on a piece of blank paper.
I realised that the top area of my lino was not deep enough and needed to be further cut, as there were many spots that were left
