This is my reference picture, it is translucent because I could not find my original picture.
(I did not manage to take the picture of my printed and coloured work because I forgot to check whether I had the picture)
Process of work: After the picture is printed, use the light box and draw the reverse/inverted version of your original sketch on the other side of the paper using 4B pencil. Colour in the different colored parts, white for the light on the hair, eyes and face, purple for the background and beige for the skin tone. Afterwards collect a graphite paper, put it under the picture and above the rubber print and trace over the lines with a ballpoint pen and the picture will be "printed" onto the rubber.
Cut out the white parts, and print the beige (colour that I chose) coloured parts. The white parts are of the bright parts of your hair, face and eyes.
Print at least 3 prints or until you're satisfied. For me, I printed about 9 but I forgot to take the pictures.
Cut beige, print purple. The purple (colour that I chose) parts are my background and I need to cut it out before cutting the black parts.
At this stage, I realised I should have printed more of my beige prints because all of my 9 prints except one or two are not properly done and I was running out of prints to use. Thus I was panicking.
Cut purple parts, print black. The black parts are for my hair and the shadows because they're black in colour.
(I realised I forgot to take a picture of the rubber print...)
At this stage, like mentioned earlier, I did not have good prints available for me to use but in the end I think it turned out alright, thank goodness it was okay.
I was really pleased about my final print because the paint looked really clean and not blotched up and it does not have empty spots like my other prints where the paint was too thin.
Lesson learned (What to improve):
I learned that I should have paid more attention after every lesson to remember to take pictures of all my prints and the inverted coloured page of work because I don't have any pictures of my "failed" attempts. Another thing I learned was that I should have asked more questions regarding my prints, if I did, I would have known that I needed to print more of my beige prints since I asked Miss Ng after printing the background and she said that my beige didn't print properly since there were empty spots without colour.
All in all, I think it was a great experience for me and I'm really happy and proud of my final print. YAY!
