step 1: draw and sketch out the design with pencil
step 2: transfor onto lino and cut out the design
step 3: cut out more details ( the fur of the rabbit, give the leave more pattern )
step 4: go to the inking station and print out the linocut
My self-portrait
step 1: trace my face out with a 2B pencil, then darken the shadows using a 4B pencil
step 2: using the lightbox trace out the portrait onto the other side. then do the color scheming.
step 3: use a carbon paper and a ballpoint pan and transfer onto lino.
improvement i could have made: could have cut out the eye area about more because when printing paint gets stuck .
step 4 first try: the ink was too dry and too little causing the entire portrait to be not clear.
pointers: use wet cloth to clean away background
step 4 second try: better than the first try but eye area wasnt printed clearly.
step 4 third try: although the amount of ink was quite good the white parts of the eye cannot be seen.
step 4 fourth try: the most of the features could be seen clearly. but forgot to clean off the background
step 4 fifth try: the print was pretty similar to the previous one but i forgot to clean off the background again.
step 4 sixth try: all the features are printed clearly
( forgot to take picture )
step 4 seventh try: after printing so much i realise that the colour of the first layer was too dark and my fellowing background colour might not cover it nicely so i print in yellow instead.
step 5: cutting of the second layer
step 6 test printing first try: the ink wasnt spread neatly so as shown as in print the left side background was good but the right wasnt. the face is also not cut well so it isnt very clean.
step 6 test printing second try: i went to recut the face so it was much more neat this time. but the background wasnt perfect again.
step 6 test printing third try: the background is a little because i added more water then previously and realised that the paint was abit too dry last time.
step 6 test printing fourth try: the background is finally good although the face wasnt very clear but the main focus is on the background.
( i forgot to take picture)
step 7: printing onto the first print. i repeated 4 times with the number of first prints i had.
step 8: cutting of last layer
step 9 test print first try: the sides of the background wasnt cut very well the rest is okay.
step 9 test print second try: this try was much better than the previous one.
step 10 first try: there is a shadow because i didnt place the paper properly when transferring the paint from lino to the paper abit disappointed.
step 10 second try: other then the yellow parts that was left from the previous printing it was pretty okay.
step 10 third try: there was some black not clean off neatly. i should have wipe the black ink more with the damp cloth to prevent the undesired mess.
step 10 fourth try: my best one and abit regret not printing my second layer better to cover the yellow more if not it will be quite good.
