Step 1
Draw design of rabbit on paper
Step 2
Outline drawing and shading with marker and start to carve rabbit. Process of carving.
Step 3
Finished carving and ready for printing.
Step 4
Print your finished carving. Artwork complete!
Step 1
Trace essential outlines of my self portrait and define negative and positive space.
Step 2
Using the light box, trace over your work in step 1 but it is reversed.
Step 3
Use carbon paper and ball point pen to trace/imprint the entire drawing from reverse onto the lino. After that, i also used a black marker to colour the parts I wanted black on my lino.My mistake for this was that the first time I did it I used the wrong side of the carbon paper and I had to retrace again which wasted more time.
Step 4
Go back to the reverse paper and choose two colours (Pink and blue) and black. Then use colour pencils to do the colour scheme.
Step 5
After I have cut out what I want to be white on my lino, I printed my face colour which also has to be the lightest colour of my lino and it was pink. ( Forgot to take photo of the lino)
This is my 1st print for 1st colour which was ok but my mistake was that I forgot to wipe of the sides.
My 2nd print for 1st colour. My mistake again was that i did not clean the sides.
My 3rd print for 1st colour. My mistake was not cleaning the sides and not enough paint on the lino so got a lot of white spaces. So, this was a bad print.
My 4th print for 1st colour. My mistake was not cleaning the sides and I either added too much paint or I pressed to hard on the eyes area that the paint covered my eyes. So, this was a bad print.
My 5th print for 1st colour. My mistake was not adding enough paint onto lino so got white spaces. Therefore, this is a bad print.
My 6th print for 1st colour. My mistake was not enough paint onto lino so got some white spaces. So, bad print.
My 7th print for 1st colour. After 6 tries, finally a good print.
My 8th print for 1st colour. Good print.
My 9th print for 1st colour and it's a good print.
My 10th print for 1st colour and it is a good print.
My 11th print for 1st colour and it's a good print. So, total of 11 prints but only 5 was good prints.
Step 6
After having enough successful prints for 1st colour, I proceeded to cut out the pink parts which is my face, using the paper at step 4 as reference to help me. My mistake was not cutting the lino deep enough but this issue was only discovered in the next step.
Step 7
After cutting my lino, I printed my background colour which was blue.
This is my 1st test print on blank paper for 2nd colour and I found out that I did not cut the lino enough so I went back to cut more. I decided not to wash off the paint when cutting so I could see what part needed to be cut.
My 2nd test print on blank paper for 2nd colour. I still needed to cut more lino.
My 3rd test print on blank paper for 2nd colour. I have cut enough of the lino.
My 4th test print on blank paper for 2nd colour. This was to double check that my background was ok before actually printing on the paper with 1st colour on it.
My 5th test print on a bad print for 2nd colour. 1 layer of blue was not enough as I can still see the pink. I actually test printed on all of my bad prints but I forgot to take picture of the rest.
My 1st print for 2nd colour. It is a good print but needed 2-3 layers of paint.
My 2nd print for 2nd colour. It is considered a good print but needed 2-3 layers of paint.
My 3rd print for 2nd colour. It was a good print. I decided to change colour for my background since blue had a lot of issues and always needed 2 to 3 layers of paint. In the end, the red also needed 2 layers of paint but the 2 layers of red paint had more coverage than 2 layers of blue paint. I had more prints but I forgot to take pictures of them.
Step 8
After having enough successful prints of my 2nd colour, I proceeded to cut out the blue parts which is the background.
Step 9
After cutting my lino, I printed the 3rd colour which was black. This would also be my final print.
This is my 1st test print on blank paper for 3rd colour and I had cut enough of my lino so I proceeded to print on the paper with my 1st and 2nd colour.
My 2nd test print on a bad print for 3rd colour. I had to do 2 layers of black paint to cover the blue paint underneath.
My 3rd test print on a bad print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint.
My 4th test print on a bad print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint.
My 1st print for 3rd colour. My mistake was that I pressed or put to much paint and it covered my eye. So, it's a bad print.
My 2nd print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint. It is a good print.
My 3rd print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint. It is a good print.
My 4th print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint. It is a good print.
My 5th print for 3rd colour. It needed 2 layers of black paint. It is a good print. So, I have a total of 4 good prints that are fully completed.
