Shading of self portrait
It was easy outlining the face but difficult finding the shadows on the portrait. It took a long time to shade.
Reverse Shading
I used the lightbox so it was easy to see the shading on the other side, making it easier to shade on this side. Shading on this side also took a long time.
Shading on linocut
I put carbon paper on the linocut and outlined the shaded parts from the portrait. I attempted to doodle inside the oulined parts to make my life easier :)
Colouring of self portrait
I had to copy the 321 onto the paper. I also had to colour the paper according to the colours i picked. Colouring took a long time as well, but the previous shading decreased the time taken.
Cutting of linocut
I had to cut carefully so that I would not cut my hand. I forgot to take photos of the first and second cut so this is the third cut. Cutting the glasses were difficult as there are many corners. I accidentally cut part of my eyebrow.
Printing of linocut 1
I did use enough paint so there were still some white spots on the paper. I forgot to take photos of the other prints.
Test printing of linocut 2
I did not use enough paint for this print so there are white spots on the paper. I also did not cut well so there was paint on my forehead. I did not clean off the paint.
Test printing of linocut 2
I used enough paint for this print, so there were significantly less white spots on the paper. However, I still did not cut well enough.
Printing of linocut 2
I started printing the blue on the first print, and I did not use enough paint again. i did not print the facial features. I had to print again.
Printing of linocut 2
I printed again and used enough paint. There are still white spots but they are not as visible as in the previous print. I accidentally moved the linocut while printing so there are stains at the side.
Test printing of linocut 3
Enough paint was used in the first print (according to the teacher) There are still some white spots and paint on my forehead.
Printing of linocut 3
I started printing the black on my previous prints. It is still not clean. The paint on my eye is smudged and my forehead still has paint on it. There is also not enough paint on the corner of the print.
Printing of linocut 3
On this print, I cleaned the paint of my forehead (finally) and my eye is less smudged. I also used more paint on this print.
