The Queen of England’s funeral was held on September 19, 2022 at Westminster Abbey, UK. This building holds significance in many ways but regarding Queen Elizabeth, this is where her wedding and coronation were held.

Along with family, there were significant figures who also attended: Joe Biden accompanied by his wife Jill Biden, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and other world leaders were present.

She now lies in Windsor, UK where a private service was held following the burial in which family members attended.

The funeral and overall death of the Queen had mixed reactions. Many citizens of the UK were devastated while others–including outside of the country–showed happiness when the news was publicized. 

These feelings of happiness were a result of complicated histories regarding the countries’ leaders colonizing and Western imperialism. Each country has their reasons and conflict in the past.

There have been citizens of the United States who expressed contempt to sadness to indifference, while others contributed to their obsession with the royal family and their complications in comedic ways. These can be seen on any corner of the internet. 

The Queen’s ruling years are now left in history as England crowned their new king, King Charles III.
