Get to Know Our Social Workers!
By: Isabella Melfi | 4/28/22
All the social workers of LHS work with students to help them with any support they need. Feel free to stop in and plan a visit with your social worker if you are feeling like you need to talk to someone or like you are in need of support. As your social workers are learning so much about you, you can learn more things about them. Get to know some more about our social workers!
Tracy Lunney (last names A-D):
Hi Everyone, my name is Mrs. Lunney and I am probably the oldest Social Worker on the team, but don't let that discourage you! With age comes patience, wisdom, and the ability to talk about even the most awkward or uncomfortable topics (Actually, all of us can do this). I've been a social worker for almost 34 years, and there has never been a student I didn't like or want to get to know more about. In my personal life, I like to surround myself in nature as much as possible. I like to kayak, sail, garden and walk my dog Scout. These interests help me clear my head, think about concerns that I can improve or let go of, and talk to friends or family who I trust to get direction if I need help. You can do the same thing, and know that adults surround you in this school, who care and will help you find your peace of mind.
Jen Pruisinowski (last names E-L):
I have been a social worker for about 25 years and here at Liverpool High School for close to 15 years. My favorite part of being a School Social Worker at LHS is meeting students as they start their high school journey and having the opportunity to watch them over the next few years grow, change and mature into a young adult who is about to go into the world. It is a privilege for me when students share their stories and experiences with me and I feel very grateful for this opportunity. I am also very honored to be the advisor of the Gay Straight Alliance and learn from such a wonderful group and help bring awareness to issues faced by our LGBTQ+ students.
Outside of school, I am a proud mom of 3 children...two who are LHS graduates and one who is a sophomore here at LHS. My oldest daughter is a senior at University of Scranton and my younger daughter is a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo. My husband and I met while attending SUNY Geneseo and have been married for 23 years. I love spending time with my family, whether we are home having a game night or away on vacation, being with them is my favorite place to be. I enjoy reading, running , shopping, mostly online Amazon prime shopping, and spending time with friends too. A fun fact about me is that I started running when I turned 40 years old and I have run 7 half marathons, and am currently in training for half marathon number 8.
Beth Hughes (last names M-R):
I love my job as a School Social Worker. I have been at Liverpool for nearly 20 years. I love the opportunity to meet and support students, and to watch them grow and be successful. As you know balancing school, academics, friendships, family, and activities is stressful and challenging. It is very rewarding to watch teens navigate these challenges and prepare for life beyond high school. I really enjoy connecting with students in positive ways. I was the Freshmen Class Advisor for 12 years, GSA Co-advisor for 7 years, and Ski Club Chaperone. It is fun and rewarding to connect with students outside of the school day. I am married and have two grown sons. I love to be outside. I love the LL Bean logo "Be an OUTSIDER!" When I am not in school I can be found riding my bike, hiking, running, or paddling. I am always up for an adventure with family and/or friends. My favorite food is chocolate chip cookies or peanut M&M's.
Amelia Scott (last names S-Z):
I come from a blended family and have 5 siblings total. In my free time I like to do DIY projects around my house with my fiance, spend time outside, run, play with my rescue pitbull Eddie, and binge some TV shows. I enjoy cooking vegan meals and frequently go to the restaurant Strong Hearts. Also a huge fan of Thai food! My favorite part of being a social worker is being able to witness people that I work with experience growth and happiness as well as being able to advocate for those who may not be able to advocate for themselves.
