Who is Freddy Fazbear?

Freddy Fazbear is a character from the hit indie-horror game "Five nights at Freddy's" that came out on August 8th, 2014. It was developed by a small game developer who goes by Scott Cawthon, who would then go on to release a prequel and then two more sequels in the ame year. The games work on a basic system of sitting in an office, watching over the animatronic characters, making sure that they don't get too close to you. If they do, and get into the office, you'll get jump-scared by one of them, meaning game over.

Freddy is the star of the stage in the games, yet he is the third or fourth character to actually move off the stage. He is also the most intimidating character in the game because of where he'll appear on the cameras and the sounds he makes, mainly chuckling in the background and heavy footsteps. Usually Freddy will show up in dark places on the cameras, but when he's right next to the office you sit in, he'll put his entire face up to the camera, obscuring your view of anything else in the hallway. If the door he is at isn't closed fast enough, he will sneak his way in, jumpscare the player, and that'll be a game over. This means that the player will have to restart the night they were on and face Freddy all over again.

This was only a description of the first version of Freddy; there are still several more. For example, Golden Freddy, or what he is now known as today, Fredbear. He is by far one of the most intimidating versions of the bear. He has appeared in the first four games, being one of the most scary animatronics to appear in the office. He would appear in the player's office and would only disappear if a person didn’t pay him any attention, such as looking at the cameras. Yet, even though he doesn’t show up often, he still poses a huge threat to the player.

Fredbear has an even more frightening version in the fourth game in the series: a Nightmare Fredbear. A scarier version of the yellow bear, he is also symbolic of something that happens in the story. In the fourth game, the story reveals that the bear bit the frontal lobe of a child, resulting in the mascot being permanently retired and then the restaurant being shut down. The child, whose frontal lobe was bitten off, goes into a coma and relives traumatic events of his time at Fredbear’s. The player gets to play as the child in his coma/nightmare state where they have to defend against Freddy and the gang, alongside Fredbear, whose design was given more teeth to amplify what has happened in the past.

Freddy Fazbear himself is what started the game series off, and since then, it’s been thriving, along with the huge community it’s acquired over the years. Friday Nights at Freddy’s will most likely remain popular for years to come, and it’s all due to the recognizable animatronic brown bear and how he affected people who played the game he was in.
