Our Mission:
The Liverpool Lifeguard has principles that guide its journalists on the right path to an informative and ethical network of news. Whether it is an article online, to a news package, or just an article in the Lifeguard magazine our journalists are obligated to inform the public of the truth.
Accuracy and Truthfulness
Facts must come from an outside source, no copyright, but with the intent of being used to inform
All information must be treated as skeptical until proven trustworthy; sources must be reliable
We will provide content that is relevant and honest to the topic
Journalists must attempt to present the fullest truth to the public
Context and details should be at top priority especially for conflicting news
Journalists must identify news sources clearly because the public is entitled to know the entire truth
Accountability
Journalists must take full responsibility for errors or mistakes in the information provided with news
Journalists must correct information that is incorrect for the public
News stories or articles must be completed before being published
Independence
There will be no bias when stories are being written; every piece of news should be treated professionally
Our team will not be influenced by outside funders; especially from those that seek to influence media that is produced (no bribes)
Humanity
Journalists will be sensitive to topics that could cause conflict or bad reactions
Journalists will consider the long term effects of publication
Impartiality
People or those that are being written about will be treated with respect
Journalists will attempt to include every perspective of their news story
