Meet the Staff 

Abby Phillips is a junior at Liverpool High School. This is her second year as part of the CTE pathway for Communication Arts. She covers after school activities such as football games and other events at Liverpool. She enjoys listening to music and traveling. She plans on pursuing journalism in college.

Alannah Edwards is a Junior at Liverpool High School. She is a year round student athlete that is also a part of the film club and key club. She is a runner for the Girls Varsity Cross Country team, and the Girls Varsity Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field team. In her spare time Alannah enjoys binge watching TV shows and baking new recipes for her friends and family. Furthermore, she likes the process of working a camera and putting together videos to make a beautiful final product. At the moment Alannah plans to go to college but is undecided. She hopes that one day she could work in the broadcasting industry.

Alex Perkins-Grimaldi is a senior at Liverpool High School. She is a gold medalist figure skater who plans on becoming a coach and possibly having her own skating academy some day. When she’s not in school, she enjoys meteorology, Formula 1, driving atv’s and anything to do with cars. 

Austin Robinson is a junior at Liverpool High School. He is one of the sports reporters in journalism. He has aspirations of being a sports analyst or journalist. If those don't work out, Austin would like to get into coaching. In his free time Austin enjoys playing basketball, video games, and hanging out with his friends and family. 

Boden Jennings is a senior at LHS and the arts & entertainment editor for The Lifeguard. He is an accomplished student filmmaker, getting recognition by American High for his film “Harry Gurken: A Cautionary Tale.” He spends his free time writing and listening to music, and takes heavy inspiration from the works of Jordaan Mason. 

Cali Brancato is the Sports editor for the LHS lifeguard. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends and playing lacrosse. She also enjoys watching all sports but more specifically, New York Yankees baseball. After graduating high school, Cali plans on attending The College of Saint Rose where she will major in Communications, minor in Film and Digital Media Studies, and play lacrosse.

Cam Herrera is a junior at LHS. He enjoys working behind the scenes in film production, such as writing, directing, producing, and editing. In his free time he creates various works of art like drawings, screenplays, ceramics, and jewelry. You can find him most often hanging out with friends or at home watching tv and movies.

Chris Rufus is a senior at LHS. He enjoys listening to Taylor Swift and going on road trips to New Jersey to see his hometown friends. He loves traveling and making digital art with a focus on marketing and publicity. He is furthering his education by majoring in Graphic Design.

Emily Nestor is a junior at Liverpool High School. She is a member of both the Varsity Field Hockey and Softball teams, and loves to be active. Outside of school, Emily spends most of her time playing sports, reading, or hanging out with friends and family. Although she does not know what she wants to major in yet, she plans to play field hockey in college.

Emily Refici is a senior at Liverpool High School. She is involved in many things at LHS including the Cheer team. She enjoys listening to music and spending time with friends in her spare time. Emily plans on continuing with communication arts in college. 

Gabriela Osbeck is a Sports writer for the LHS Lifeguard. Gabriela loves volleyball and plays for the Liverpool Girls Varsity Volleyball team. She enjoys listening to music, babysitting, and spending time with her friends and family. Gabriela plans to go to college after her high school career, while majoring in digital marketing.

Jason Diego is a senior at Liverpool High School and in the Communication Arts Pathway. He spends money on CDs and video games. He also enjoys watching UFC. He plans to go to college at some point, but does not know what to major in. 

Julia Martin is a senior at Liverpool High School. She spends her free time helping with the yearbook club and participating in school plays. Julia enjoys art and fashion and also wishes to go to college for 2D and 3D animation to continue what she loves.

Landry Thompson is a senior at Liverpool High School. He enjoys improving himself whether it’s working on one of his online businesses, going to the gym, or meeting new people. After high school Landry plans on scaling his businesses and creating a personal brand as well as travel the world; documenting the journey.

Liliana Opgenorth is a Senior at Liverpool High School, she’s currently taking Journalism as well as SUPA Sociology and hopes to study sociology and anthropology at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. She spends her free time around horses and with her sister, as well as watching a number of shows and movies, and attending concerts. 

Mary Hayden is a student at Liverpool Hight School in the Communication Arts pathway. She is on two varsity teams, Swimming and Crew. She enjoys watching an analyzing films as well as making them. She doesn't know what she wants to do in college but she hopes for big success in the future.

McKenzie White is a senior at Liverpool High School. This is her first year as part of the Liverpool Lifeguard. She participates in many LHS Fine Arts programs here at Liverpool. In her spare time, McKenzie enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing piano, and coaching basketball. After graduation, McKenzie hopes to pursue journalism and communications. 

Michael Busko is a senior at Liverpool High School. He is an avid enjoyer of most music genres. Some of his favorite artists include Kid Cudi, Mick Jenkins, and Pearl Jam. Michael hopes to major in Broadcasting and Mass Communications and minor in Audio Recording and Production at SUNY Oswego.

This is Sam Merrill, a senior at Liverpool High School and is the correspondent for the news section as well as a writer for the opinion pieces. He is not part of extracurricular activities, he also enjoys playing the guitar, and hanging with his pals. He hopes to be able to make his own music in the near future.

Sam Owens is a senior at LHS. They have a passion for film and music, writing for arts and entertainment. Sam also works for graphics, social media, and various talk shows for The Lifeguard. They enjoy spending time with friends, playing guitar, and collecting. Sam collects various different types of physical media and figures. Saragrace Tucci-Gerthoffer is a senior at Liverpool High School and a writer passionate about music, art and poetry. Sara enjoys going to local music events and working on her skramz projects in her spare time. She plans on attending SUNY Fredonia in fall of 2024 for Journalism and Creative Writing. 

Sydney Zopff is a Senior at Liverpool High School who loves to be active and explore new things. She plans on going to SUNY Oswego to do the TESOL program and become an ENL Teacher. They are involved in crew rowing through the LHS and Chargers club teams.

Thomas Azzolino is a senior at LHS. He enjoys watching and playing sports, hanging out with his friends, and going to the gym. Sports have always been a huge part in his life and he loves anything to do with them. He plans on going to a college close to home to major in sports/mass communications.

Trent Pantel is a senior at Liverpool High School. He enjoys long walks on the beach and playing electric guitar. Music is his life. He plans on going to SUNY Oswego to study music production.
