Liverpool High School’s Fame Prepares For It’s 36th Season

Liverpool High School offers many activities for the theatre students out there such as casting hall, fame, and the musical. Casting hall is the school play, strictly acting, and the musical is, well, a musical. Pretty self-explanatory. Fame on the other hand is an extracurricular that is unique to Liverpool. Here are some basic facts for a better understanding.

Basically, Fame is an audition based group in which we showcase the group’s talent and work, and you have to be in a music class in order to participate. For the group numbers, we pick songs or medleys to sing as well as learn choreography and dance to them. We mainly pick pop and broadway songs. There are also solo spots, that can be a variety of different things such as dancing and singing with various amounts of people. The show normally runs about two hours but with COVID restrictions in place, this year’s will most likely be shorter.

Fame has been around since before the dawn of time, as Stephanie Suarez would say. Fame was originally a barbershop group that Suarez started about 36 years ago. It eventually evolved into Fame, which is more dancing, different song variety, and solo spots. In the past, Fame has done some lively numbers from musicals and artists such as Newsies, Hamilton, Kinky Boots, Dear Evan Hansen, Madonna, Beyonce, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Lady Gaga, Rent, The Greatest Showman, and more!

Suarez eventually retired in 2020 and now Fame is under new direction. Mrs. Sky Harris, our lovely chorus teacher, has willingly decided to take over as director since the 2020-2021 season. We are thrilled to share our “post-COVID” show with you all!

We have some big plans in the works and we would love for you to attend! Our show is December 17th and 18th at 7pm. The venue is TBD at the moment but we will keep you updated. Hope to see you there!
