NFL Offseason

The NFL Offseason Begins

Every year as soon as the offseason starts we celebrate and mourn our teams just as much as we do during the season. The adrenaline when you hear the news of your favorite NFL team signing a big name star, or the agony of your team letting your favorite player leave, this time of the football year can be a rollercoaster of emotions. Even as soon as the season ended we all assumed the greatest of all time, Tom Brady, was going to retire… sadly that retirement lasted as long as Green Bay’s postseason.

Players that fans used to hate during the regular season become players we so badly want our teams to sign. Everybody and their parents thought Juju Smith-Schuster was one of the most annoying players with his Tik Tok dances on opposing teams logos during pregame warm ups, but as soon as he became a free agent almost every fan base wanted him to sign with their team. Another great example of a player who fans switched up on once they realized he could join their team is Tyrann Mathieu, or as most know him as The Honey Badger. A key piece to The Kansas City Chiefs defense, and practically the only good player in their secondary, Mathieu quickly became one of the best available players to sign.

With the beginning of the NFL offseason underway, we have already started to see some major transactions happen in the league. Everything started off with a bang, as Russel Wilson being traded to The Denver Broncos shook up the league for a day. Along with Wilson parting ways from Seattle, The Seahawks also released veteran inside linebacker Bobby Wagner who has yet to sign with a team. League rumors are that Wilson is attempting to recruit former teammate Bobby Wagner to Denver.

One team that has come out guns blazing with the amount of signings has been the Jacksonville Jaguars. They started off by signing one of the best free agents, Brandon Scherff who played offensive guard for The Washington Football Team. Staying on the offensive side of their signings, The Jaguars have also picked up receiving threats Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram. Jacksonville is giving their young franchise quarterback many new weapons to play around with. This doesn’t account for the great defensive pickups that the Jags’ have signed like Darious Williams, Folorunso Fatukasi, and Foyesade Oluokun. Jacksonville has been the money spending team of the league right now, they will have the most changes in their starting lineup for next season.

All of these moves have happened all within two weeks of each other, and there is still plenty of opportunity for your favorite team to add more star players to their lineup.
