For the first time since 2019, the Liverpool football team has won the first four games they’ve played and are currently undefeated.

After falling short last fall and winning only two games the whole season, Liverpool starts off their season in the best way possible. Not only are they undefeated, but they got their revenge on Utica Proctor, who they unfortunately lost 20-14 to in the 2022 Section III - AA sectional quarterfinal round. Friday, September 23rd, the Warriors defeated Proctor by 30 points, with a score of 36-6.

The team scored a total of five touchdowns to contribute to their win against Proctor; one each by Jordan Grandinetti, Antonio Rivera, Tay’yari Sholtz, Tymir Scott, and Owen Brown.

Other than their win against Utica Proctor, Liverpool has also defeated Ballston Spa (61-44), Henninger (34-6), and Elmira (14-8 at time of game cancellation due to weather).

Since the season ended last fall, the Liverpool football team spent the off season and summer in the weight room and on the turf to make sure the upcoming season was more successful than the previous one. “Our team has worked very hard this offseason to try and put ourselves in the position we are currently in. Having said that, we have the toughest part of our schedule coming up and we need to continue to work and get better everyday.” says head coach, Joe Sindoni.

Liverpool is led by John Sindoni in passing yards (544 yds), Owen Brown in rushing yards (351 yds), and Jordan Grandinetti in receiving yards (172 yds).

When asked about the season so far, sophomore quarterback, John Sindoni says, “we are happy with the way the season has started, but we have some very tough games ahead and we are just taking them one at a time.”

Qui’Mere McCutcheon, wide receiver and defensive back, is currently out due to a concussion and speaks out about his team's fantastic start to the season. “Honestly I feel really good about this season, I haven’t played a game yet but I am excited to be back this upcoming game. We haven’t received a lot of respect, but we have a lot to prove.” says McCutcheon.

Despite the season starting strong for the Warriors, there are still doubts from rival teams and Liverpool's own fans that the Warriors will continue the season undefeated in upcoming games due to their previous season and records.  “We're still being doubted but we're not done working yet. We just gotta come working as a team and continue to stay disciplined.” McCutcheon adds.

The Liverpool football team will be traveling to play Christian Brothers Academy this Friday, September 23rd, where they will hopefully continue their winning streak.

The entire Liverpool community is rooting for this years varsity football team in hopes that they will finish the season as strong or even stronger than they started.
