New York Jets Quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, was taken off the field in his debut game due to his season-ending injury.

On September 12, 2023 the New York Jets played their debut game against the Buffalo Bills on the Jets home turf at MetLife Stadium. During the first quarter of the game, on the fourth play, Rodgers was sacked by Buffalo Bill Leonard Floyd, and fell awkwardly on his leg. Rodgers tried to get up and keep going but soon fell back down and had the medical team take him off the field.

“We know it’s torn,” Head Coach Robert Saleh states in an interview with CNN. “that's been confirmed.”

Rodgers was a huge addition to the Jets roster. He has won four MVP awards: in 2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021, and led his previous team, the Green Bay Packers, to Super Bowl victory in 2011 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rodgers currently has a three year contract with the Jets for $112.5 million. This was the first team Rodgers had played with since being the Green Bay Packers quarterback for 17 years.

“Lots of sadness, a lot of tears, a lot of dark frustration, anger; the gamut of emotions,” Rodgers told the NFL in an interview. “but the sun rose the next day and I found myself in LA; had surgery on Wednesday, and since then I’ve been feeling a lot better.”

Rodgers plans to stay involved with his team during the rest of the season. Even though he might not be able to lead his team to victory on the field, he is going to give all his efforts to help them in the postseason.

Fortunately for the Jets, they were able to pull off a win during OT; 22-16. Buffalo Bills Quarterback Josh Allen had four turnovers, three were interceptions that greatly hurt the Bills during this critical time. Backup New York Jets Quarterback, Zach Wilson, was able to throw a three yard touchdown to Wide Receiver Garret Wilson in the fourth quarter, tying up the game 16-16. In overtime, Jets Wide receiver Xavier Gibson was able to walk-off a 65-yard punt return for the win.

“Aaron Rodgers' injury is definitely devastating and very upsetting. He is getting older so stuff like this happens, but it's still awful to see. Even though I am not a Jets fan, I still hope he can recover fast and get back on the field.” Green Bay Packers fan Julian Miller states.
