 A young moose was spotted on September 12th, 2023 in close proximity to Syracuse, New York, just 50 miles east of us. The moose was spotted by members of the volunteer fire department of Westernville, NY. According to Westernville local Gerrie Watkins, the moose was causing quite the traffic jam! “First one I have seen out here, traffic was backed up with people.” Watkins posted on monday, September 12, 2023.

The moose was reported to be wandering in nearby local soccer fields. News channel 2 reports the moose to have backed up State Route 46. The word of this big guy wandering around traveled fast; locals were out trying to spot the moose which added to the already backed up traffic. Facebook and Neighborhood community posts began to fly due to the unlikely nature of a moose in the suburbs.

The young moose seems to be starting his modeling career with all of the photo attention he has been receiving. What was such a random surprise to see this big critter walking around, seemed to bring a community together with excitement and awe.
