After 50 years, The Beatles have finally returned. While only two are alive today, the group has decided to give one last hurrah with a brand new song to be released on Thursday, November 2nd.

Before his death, John Lennon wrote the song “Now and Then.”  He was able to record a demo with his vocals and piano. Now, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison all worked on the demo as well, but never recorded because of technological issues.

Today, those technological issues have been solved as director, Peter Jackson, used artificial intelligence to bring Lennon’s vocals away from his piano playing. This paired with Harrison’s guitar that he recorded 30 years ago, Starr’s new drumming, and McCartney’s bass, piano, and slide guitar was able to complete the track. The track will also include a string arrangement. The backing vocals will be pulled from three other songs in The Beatles discography. The songs include “Here, There and Everywhere,” “Elenor Rigby,” and “Because.”

McCartney began to get emotional as he listened to Lennon’s vocals because they were so clear and beautiful. Olivia Harrison, George’s widow, believes that if he were still alive today, he would most definitely join McCartney and Starr on the track.

The new song comes as a complete surprise to the public as the group had disbanded more than fifty years ago and not on great terms. The track will more than likely make fans emotional as this features their favorite artists who are no longer alive.

“This is the last track, ever, that you’ll get the four Beatles on the track. John, Paul, George, and Ringo,” Starr said. It really is the end of an era.

On the Wednesday before release, a 12-minute documentary will be released about the making of the song.
