Over the summer the LHS Fine Arts Department had multiple camps open to students. One of those camps ,Band Camp, Taught students the basics of band and marching. Marching Band Director, James Dumas, was incredibly proud of the progress made during the duration of Band Camp.

During the competition on September 9th at ES-M Liverpool’s Marching band won both Field Caption categories, but got second place overall with a 78. Dumas commented on how rewarding it is to be able to work with so many talented musicians. He is hopeful for the future of marching band as, in the years post-covid, more and more students have joined. With such dedicated staff and students our marching band is continuing to grow and improve as time goes on. September 16th at Mohonasen, Liverpool won first place with an 82.

Band member Eliana Thompson, a snare player, talked about her experience with staff as well as other teams. “The staff is incredible,” Thompsons says. “and they are also intensely experienced in not only their respective field, but in all areas of the sport, so it makes for a great professional rehearsing environment.” Thompson highlights director James Dumas as an amazing leader along with Norm Bagley, the co-director. “Even though it felt amazing to win.” Thompson states. “It felt even better to unite with people in our activity as passionate as us.” Marching band is a sport that unites students from around the districts, and gives them a gratifying feeling to the winners.
