My WHY:
I believe that trust serves as a foundation on which relationships are built. Trust is the driving force for open communication, cultivating empathy, and creating a mutual understanding among individuals.
My goal for this year is to equip students with the essential life skill of building and maintaining trust-based relationships.
About Me
Hey there! My name is Cristen Shirley, and this is my 9th year teaching math. I have taught many years of middle school math, but ended up finding my dream job teaching 4th grade math at East Elementary! I have been married to my husband, Heath, for 6 years, and we have two cuties that keep us busy all of the time! Hadley Jo is in first grade and Camden is in PreK4. I grew up in Baird, TX which is a small town outside of Abilene, TX. I graduated in 2010 and headed to Texas Tech and fell in love with the city of Lubbock. I am so happy to call Lubbock and Lubbock Cooper ISD my home.
My favorite thing about teaching is the relationships I am able to build with my students and coworkers. I love being able to build my students confidence daily and to teach them all things math. I can't wait to see what this year has in store for my classroom.
