To uphold the principle of equal educational opportunity, National United University (NUU) is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive campus environment for students from socioeconomically and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds. The university has implemented a range of assistance programs as outlined below:
📌 Expanding Access to Higher Education
NUU offers a variety of admission pathways, including special admission schemes and Indigenous student programs, to enhance access for underprivileged groups. Admission strategies are also developed to encourage enrollment of students from local communities and diverse backgrounds.
📌 Scholarships and Financial Assistance
Key support mechanisms include:
Tuition and Fee Waivers: Eligible students may receive full or partial tuition waivers.
Living Stipends: Financial aid is provided to alleviate living expenses and encourage participation in public service and interdisciplinary programs.
Higher Education Sprout Project Grants: Funding is available for students to pursue learning projects and hands-on activities.
Housing and Rent Subsidies: Priority access to on-campus housing and rent subsidies for off-campus accommodations are offered.
Dedicated Scholarships: Awards such as the Chen Wei-Chung Scholarship and the Chu Zheng-Guo Memorial Scholarship are available to eligible students.
📌 Work-Study and Emergency Relief
An on-campus work-study program enables students to gain work experience and develop independence.
An emergency relief fund is in place to assist students facing unexpected financial hardship.
📊 Outcomes (Past Three Years)
Over 1,800 student instances are supported annually, with total financial assistance amounting to approximately NT$33 million per year.
The proportion of disadvantaged students admitted through various admission channels has steadily increased year by year.
