為節能減碳，本校近年持續規劃節能方案與執行節能措施，例如在照明方面改用LED燈具，空調方面汰換老舊冷氣機改用變頻冷氣機；另有汰換電梯馬達改用變頻主機、屋頂架設太陽能板、汰換老舊飲水機改用省電溫熱水機、設置電動車充電站、行經兩校區間電動交通車等。本校新建、增建、改建或修建等工程均採節約能源之設計，其中配合教育部太陽光發電計畫於105年10月委由苗栗縣政府與太陽光電廠簽約，提供兩校區屋頂作為太陽能發電之用，使本校成為具綠能發電之典範學校。太陽能發電設施 ，如圖 ：

In pursuit of energy conservation and carbon reduction, National United University has, in recent years, continuously developed and implemented various energy-saving programs and measures. For lighting efficiency, the University has replaced traditional lighting with LED fixtures; in air conditioning systems, obsolete units have been replaced with energy-efficient inverter air conditioners.

In addition, the University has replaced elevator motors with inverter main drives, installed solar panels on building rooftops, replaced old water dispensers with energy-saving hot and cold water machines, established electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and introduced electric shuttle buses operating between the two campuses.

All new construction, expansion, renovation, and repair projects are designed in accordance with energy-saving design principles. Pursuant to the Ministry of Education’s Solar Power Generation Initiative, the University authorized the Miaoli County Government in October 2016 (R.O.C. Year 105) to enter into an agreement with a solar power company, permitting the use of the rooftops of both campuses for solar energy generation.

Through this initiative, National United University has become a model institution for green energy generation.
