Welding

I decided in 10th grade that I was interested in welding. We were choosing our Tech class and it seemed interesting to me. It requires a lot of measuring, cutting metal plates to the correct size, and clean up.

Every day is a danger, especially when using an acetylene torch. You have to be careful to set the torch up properly or you’ll have to set it up all over again. We wear face shields, gloves, and a welding jacket to protect ourselves from the intense heat.

We have been completing projects in Welding class. We made a metal box that we welded, ground off edges, and sanded. I also worked on a tire project with my classmate, Ashton. We had to weld on the inside of the tire so that we could fit the frame inside.

I really enjoy my welding experience. I look forward to getting a position as a welder after graduation.
