My name is Natalie Dickerson and I am 18 years old. I have only been to six of the 50 states. I hate routine. I get up, go to school, go to sleep, and repeat every single day. After graduation, I plan on renovating a van and going to travel and explore the world while I am still young.
The type of van I want is a VW dub master van. I want to make it so that I will have fresh and grey water tanks underneath, so I can go off-grid if I want to. I will also have solar panels on the top of my van so I won't have to use the van's battery when it is parked.
Sleeping in a van alone will be scary at first, but I will have a dog by then and I will have other protection in the van at all times. I'm not sure how long I'm gonna go and travel. All I know is that I want to explore and go see things a lot of others haven't.
If you go on YouTube and research van life, a lot of people sold everything to do it and afford it, but that's not what I want to do. I actually think that was a really stupid idea. I will save up some money to build the van up and travel to my first spot and then I want to work at that spot. It will give me something to do, me work experience, and money under my feet for the next move.
This plan is extreme and crazy, but I have been thinking about it for years.
