The Great Big World Of Anime

I am an 18-year-old student from southwest Virginia. I enjoy reading, writing, drawing and, most importantly, anime.

Clannad is my favorite anime ever, it's also one of the saddest I’ve seen. Clannad follows the story of a boy whose mother died and his father is an alcoholic. He's friends with a girl who is sickly, but has a dream that she wants to fulfill. The show follows these two characters in their senior year and the struggles they go through. Between shattered dreams and the girl’s illness flaring up, this is a tragic love story with light-hearted moments and comedy.

The Disastrous Life Of Saiki K is another of my top 10 favorites. It’s about a guy with enormous powers and the people he meets along the way. All the characters are stereotypes. One of my favorite characters, Shun Kaido, has a hero complex and thinks he has the powers of a hero. It’s a light-hearted comedy. There isn't much of a story to it other than a little bit of background stuff.

Sailor Moon is my comfort anime whenever I’m sad or something, I go back and watch it again. It’s about a group of girls that save the people from the negaverse. It’s a very squishy art style with cutesy dresses. They all have really cool powers. The story follows Usagi from the time she was a middle schooler until she is an adult, meeting the other sailor scouts and growing as a team.
