The Art of Hirohiko Araki

Hello, my name is Paiton Bradley and I love the artwork of Japanese manga artists. Japanese manga are similar to American comic books except they’re made in Japan. I’ve read a good amount of Japanese manga and my favorite artist is Hirohiko Araki. I have enjoyed Araki’s manga and artwork for over a year now. I have even bought an artbook with prints of Araki’s paintings and sketches. I will be making a blog post discussing the timeline of Hirohiko Araki’s career as a manga artist.

Hirohiko Araki has been drawing manga since he was very young. “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure” is Araki’s best selling manga. Millions upon millions of copies of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure have been bought across the world. Araki created Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure in the early 80’s and he is still continuing the story to this day.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is separated into eight parts following the story of the Joestar family. Phantom Blood is the first part of the manga and was published in the 80s. The first part follows the protagonist named “Johnathon Joestar'' or “Jojo” for short. Jojo has to face vampires and fight for the sake of humanity using his special powers. Battle Tendency is the second part of the story and Johnathon’s grandson “Joseph Joestar'' becomes the protagonist. In every part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, you get to experience a new protagonist that is the child of the previous.

With Araki’s style of story writing, he has been able to keep the story going for over thirty years by making new protagonists. This portrait is drawn by Araki and shows all the protagonists so far in the series. Not only is Araki a genius of story writing, he is a brilliant artist.

Araki has a very unique and beautiful art style. Araki’s artwork can be described as very feminine when it comes to drawing characters.

Araki’s series mostly contains masculine male characters who are very powerful and have supernatural powers, but what makes the art stand out to me is that all the characters are drawn in a feminine way, regardless of gender. It is a really unique style of artwork that is very intriguing. Araki’s style allows him to create beautiful characters that really stand out.

This is an image of Araki’s art work in the front display of a Gucci store. Araki has collaborated with multiple designer brands to give inspiration for clothing designs. Araki’s most well-known collaboration was with Gucci.

Araki also drew beautiful posters for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

In conclusion, I feel that Hirohiko Araki is a very inspirational artist and manga writer. Araki was able to come from nothing and become one of the most well-known manga artists in the world. Araki’s artwork from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has also inspired many other manga artists. Araki has such an amazing way of exploring themes in his writing while drawing very beautiful characters. Even though Araki is in his 60s today, he still continues to write and draw a fantastic story.
