By now you should have read the email with the list of diagnostic and Start Strong assessments and dates. The EdConnect codes and the paper assessment files are linked in the chart that appears in the email sent September 22nd. If you need the student IDs and passwords, they are linked on the same chart.
Please adhere to these dates as many other assessments are scheduled from Sept 23-Oct 6. For the Start Strong assessments, Mr. Singh will contact you about training to administer the Start Strong during the class periods. There is a slight possibility that the Start Strong assessments dates will change due to sending districts not releasing the 9th grade student records. For those who have been around a while, they know that this happens every year. Pay close attention to any communication regarding Start Strong in the near future.
The current seniors (class of 2022) must meet an assessment requirement for either the 1st or 2nd pathway before being eligible to complete the portfolio appeals process.
Starting with the current juniors (class of 2023), the requirements have changed. The juniors will be taking the NJGPA (NJ Graduation Proficiency Assessment) in March 2022. We will discuss the changes more in detail at the next department meeting. In the meantime... https://www.state.nj.us/education/assessment/docs/GradReq.pdf

Check out one of the scorecards from umpire Ben May from the BAL vs. TEX game. You can find the archive of the scorecards HERE.
For those who remember the middle school Open-Up Resource website, you WILL NOT want to pass this up. They have HS resources now. Check it out! We will discuss the best use for these resources at our next department meeting. Maybe after-school enrichment classes? Maybe tutoring?
Is there a moment during instruction that you would like others to see? Are you proud when the students are engaged in a lesson and have "ah-ha" moments? Have your students created eye-catching projects? If so, please capture the moment(s) with a picture or video and submit to me with a brief description for the ECST Twitter or Instagram accounts. Visit the sites to see what other subject areas have posted. Let's shine for others to see the excellent instruction that takes place in our math classrooms.
