REMINDERS & IMPORTANT NOTES
June 8-14 - FINAL EXAMS (Refer to communication from your principal for more details)
June 20 - GRADUATION
June 21 - LAST DAY FOR TEACHERS
June 26 - August 8 - Remedial & Credit Accrual Summer Programs
July 5 - August 4 - Learning Academies & Summer Enrichment Programs
Final exams have been scheduled by the ECST Office of Student Related Services for June 8-14 unless otherwise communicated by your building administration. The mathematics final exams (Cycle 4 benchmarks) are created by individual teachers. The content that is assessed should include topics from the 4th marking period only. For each course, you do have the option to collaborate with your colleagues on a common assessment. You may select the mode or platform to deliver the final exam - paper & pencil, Delta Math, edConnect, MathXL, etc.. As a reminder, the following formula applies for the grade that you enter manually into your gradebook:
Final Exam Grade = 75% of Cycle 3 benchmark + 25% of Cycle 4 benchmark

A reminder that the ECST Mathematics Curricula for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 is aligned to the Illustrative Mathematics Curricula. The daily lessons need to start with the IM lessons. As stated in the past, I have given professional latitude for you to insert other activities where you deem appropriate as you differentiate for the students you teach each year. From visiting classrooms and reviewing lesson plans, I have noticed that vice-versa has been occurring - daily lessons have been starting with other curricula and the IM activities have been sprinkled into the plans sporadically. I am gently reminding you about the order of your lesson planning for the future. As we close out this school year and consider planning for the summer, please let me know if you need a refresher on the components of the IM curricula. I will be happy to set up PD for the summer.
If you need my signature on your PD log of hours, I will make regular rounds with my pen starting next week. The schedule of when I will be in each building will be in next week's newsletter. In the meantime, I will share the spreadsheet with the PD hours that I am authorized to provide a signature. See you soon!
