Mr. Singh and I sat down and identified students that needed extra support based off their MAP scores and current academic grades. Beginning Monday - April 7th - freshmen students will either leave their period 2 CTE classes in Payne Tech + Newark Tech or leave their period 4 History + Gym + ESL classes for their math lab class. This program will begin April 7th and end May 16th - right before the NJSLA assessment our freshmen taking Algebra I and Geometry.
There are 9 different sections being offered to students across the district. At the end of the Math Lab program, the teacher assigned to that section will evaluate the students' performance and send you a report. This evaluation will count as a performance task grade in your classroom. We are looking to hold our students accountable to this opportunity for them. What are your thoughts? Let me know :)
It is strongly encouraged that you incorporate released problems from the New Jersey Digital Item Library to help students prepare for the upcoming NJSLA assessment in May. These resources closely align with what students will encounter on the test and provide excellent review opportunities. I've included two links below that I believe will be incredibly valuable for both you and your students.
