REMINDERS & IMPORTANT NOTES
TUE., OCTOBER 25 - PSAT FOR ALL 10TH & 11TH GRADE STUDENTS. Read email communication from your guidance department.
MON., NOVEMBER 7 - DEPARTMENT-BASED INSERVICE (1:30-3:30PM)
Thank you for doing your part in the calculator collection for the PSAT. A BIG SPECIAL THANK YOU to those who coordinated the calculators - Alexandra Antoine, Luis Rodriguez, Craig Zimmerman, and Christian Tanion!
Another high score to celebrate - this time on the SAT. Newark Tech's Rchin Bari (Gr. 11) sat for the October 1st administration of the SAT and scored 790 on the Math section! Let's cheer on Rchin Bari (NT), Andres Jaquez-Cruz (PT), and Mikaiel Rosado (WCT) as they take the PSAT on Tuesday and have been on a quest for a perfect EBRW or Math section score of 760! (Note: The highest section score on the SAT is 800 and the PSAT is 760.) These high scores would qualify them to apply for the National Merit Scholarship - Qualifying Test. They would then continue by taking the SAT and either receive scholarship funds or recognition from College Board and/or other participating organizations. Math Team - This is a BIG DEAL! Thank you to all of you who have had a role in improving the PSAT/SAT scores big or small. For most of our students, breaking 500 or 600 is a goal they set out to attain. Breaking 700 or hitting the 760/800 mark is quite an accomplishment.
Last week, Keven Agnew and I attended the AMTNJ Fall Conference in Plainsboro, NJ. There were over 60 PD sessions delivered over 5 time sessions during the day. Over the next few newsletters and department meetings, Kevin and I will share some of what we experienced and learned. We were also able to meet Jenna from Kendall Hunt and Kirk from eMath Instruction! (#Fangirling for sure! And I thought meeting Dan Meyer was exciting. Lol! )
Something worth sharing now... take a look at this virtual online graph paper - tp://print-graph-paper.com/virtual-graph-paper How would you use this resource?
A reminder of the naming conventions for the lesson plan files. Any lesson plans submitted that are not in this format will be returned.
