ECST Mathematics Department
Newsletter
Newsletter
Thank you to the dedicated few who REALLY read the newsletter each week. I REALLY appreciate you!
As was previously discussed in the March department meeting and subsequent newsletter(s), the final exam week will be June 7-11, 2021. Please refer to the detailed plan from your principal as to which day is assigned to the math department.
As a reminder...
The math department teachers have two options:
administer a final exam on the assigned day, or
assign a project that is due no later than the assigned day for math exams during the week of June 7-11, 2021.
A grade MUST be inserted in the X2 field. The X2 grade will only appear on PowerSchool and not on Schoology. Please communicate this information to your students to avoid undue panic. See the note in the previous newsletter.
Follow the exam schedule provided by your principal.
... there were grade distribution forms to submit each marking period. Who remembers them? Don't worry, I am not asking you to do that now. Lol! I bring this up because it is good practice for all teachers to reflect upon the grades that are received by students in your classes. Take a look. It may be what you expect. Or maybe it isn't. It may start good conversations with your colleagues, students, or parents. Even a math supervisor might be open to a conversation about what you discovered. :D
Challenge: Do you know the names of the students in your classes who are in danger of failing for the year?
If the answer is yes, awesome!
If the answer is no, maybe you could assemble that list this week.
Your feedback is welcome...
SAVE THE DATES!
A certified IM presenter from Kendall Hunt will provide PD for the department on August 9-10, 2021.
