The ECST Mathematics Department goal for the 2023-2024 school year is to improve the modeling and reasoning conceptual categories reported on standardized assessments by implementing new strategies learned and developed during professional development and professional learning communities.
ACTIONABLE ITEMs
Please plan accordingly for our Math Department meeting! We will be VIRTUAL from 3:00PM - 4:00PM.

TI - 84’s integrated into the test!!!
The email with the cycle 3 benchmark information was sent on March 13th. Please do not wait until the last few days to administer the benchmark as the marking period ends on April 17th.
The end of the 3rd marking period is April 6th. If you have a student who is in danger of failing for the year and you have not had a parent conference as of today, CONTACT THE PARENT/GUARDIAN IMMEDIATELY! This contact should also involve a response (email/phone/in-person) from the parent. If there is difficulty in establishing contact, reach out to the guidance counselor for assistance.
REMINDERS & IMPORTANT NOTES
In preparation for the SAT on Tuesday, April 24th, please rehearse the assessment with your juniors and have them take the practice assessment...now that it is digitized! If you need any further assistance, please let me know or ask a colleague.

On Wednesday (10/4), the NJ state board of education approved the new math standards (NJSLS-M). Moving forward, a change to the standards will be highlighted each week in the newsletter.
Educators from across the state worked collaboratively to develop the proposed revisions over the past year. The following link takes you to the proposed revisions.

Their mission is to help others learn how to implement this practice in our everyday classroom. Some are on Desmos Classroom which many of us are familiar with already!
