Unit 1 open from May 1-4 (For PT only, May 1-5) NOW CLOSED!!!
Unit 2 open from May 5-10 (For PT only, May 8-10)
Before you send a student to IT, please refer to the items below. DO NOT send a student to IT unless you call their office first. The majority of the login issues that have been encountered:
If the START buttons are grey and not blue, then the student most likely needs to log out of the system. They should enter the TestNav app from the start screen.
If a message appears that the username or password is incorrect, then NEW JERSEY was not selected. You can verify this by making sure it says NEW JERSEY under the TestNav logo. To fix it, there is a dropdown in the upper right-hand corner with the option to change the customer.
If the student repeatedly has to be resumed, then the student device has unstable Wi-Fi connection issues which IT can remedy.
For the question on the left, place your reflection on the JAMBOARD HERE. Click on a colorful square and begin typing your reflection.

"A good teacher is like a candle: It consumes itself to light the way for others."
—Mustafa Kemal Ataturk
As we have during the past few years, a celebration will take place during the May 17th department meeting. Let's save some of that candle so we can celebrate our accomplishments from the 2022-2023 school year. Due to the construction at the Cherry Blossom Center in the park and the risk of bad weather, the location will be indoors. The people with seasonal allergies can now join us.

The state board of education voted Wednesday, May 3, 2023 to lower by 25 points the passing score for juniors taking the state’s high school graduation test. That returns the cut-score from 750 to the state Department of Education’s original recommendation of 725.
This is good news for the current juniors as it gives a greater number of them a better chance of passing. Likewise, the cut scores for the PSAT (440 to 420; 22 to 21) and Accuplacer (255 to 250) have also changed to reflect the cut scores equivalent to the 725. The NJGPA scores should be released soon now that the cut score debate has been settled at the state level.
Mr. Bernal, Ms. Plaza, and I attended the Building Thinking in an IM Classroom webinar on May 4th. The link to the recorded webinar is HERE. The two teacher panelist gave examples of how they used BTC in the IM classroom. Bill McCallum and Peter Liljedahl contributed to the discussion as well.
The 2023 ECST Math Department competition, Math Marvels Showdown, has begun! Who is in the lead? Who is using this opportunity to reivew for NJSLA? Looking for feedback about the platform.

PROFESSIONAL/INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES WORTH SHARING
With this problem as a do now, an opportunity for engaging discussion is possible. Are there any other ways to solve this?
Looking for an engaging do now or exit ticket? This is something that Kevin Agnew and Miriam Garber will enjoy for sure.

Another exciting game - https://digit.party/
Great game for students to develop strategies after they figure out how to play. The directions are limited, on purpose. My name is MaryBeth Landis and I am addicted to digit.party! lol!
