Introducing JUSTIN BEVILACQUA as the MATH DEPARTMENT TEACHER LEADER! Moving forward, Justin will be collaborating with me on math department projects. At the next department meeting, he will join me in presenting some of the agenda items. Please join me in congratulating Justin as he begins this new role.
Questions to reflect upon before we discuss chapters 4-6 at the January 18 department meeting:
Has how you organize your room changed over time? If so, why—what happened that prompted the change?
Does the way you currently arrange the furniture in your room encourage or inhibit thinking?
As teachers we want to be helpful. One way to do this is to answer students’ questions. Can you think of any negative consequences that come from answering students’ questions?
Does the way you currently answer questions encourage or inhibit thinking?
At what point in a lesson do you normally give students their first task to work on?
Does when, where, and how you currently give tasks encourage or inhibit thinking?
Celebrating Pi Day in 2023 presents a bit of a challenge as the NJGPA assessment will be administered to the 11th grade students on March 14 & 15. Looking for suggestions how to celebrate on an off day. Should we celebrate the week before? the week after?
January GOAL
