Reminder: Math Department Meeting
Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 1:45PM
Michael Venezia has emailed (4/19/21 at 1:37PM) the postings for the 2021 summer programs. When and if you apply, you should cc me, in addition to sending your intent to jobs@essextech.org . If you have already sent the email, then forward the email with the time stamp included to jobs@essextech.org . The program of interest should be specified and be submitted no later than April 30, 2021. Note: It is better for you to submit your intent and not be needed than to not submit your intent and be needed.
The eMath Instruction Algebra 1 PDFs are also in Spanish! A suggestion for those who are teaching the 9th grade ELs to support the delivered instruction - post the corresponding video and PDFs in English and Spanish for additional resources for the students and paraprofessionals.
Update: We are meeting on April 28th at 9:00AM
To the 12th grade PreCalculus teachers - sorry again for missing the previously planned meeting on Monday. There is a lot going on and time is limited as to when we can meet, so I am looking for suggestions. 8AM? Per 4? 2:30PM? 3:00PM?
From the email: After conversations with several of the senior precalculus teachers, the conclusion is... the struggle is real! Some of us have previously discussed departing from the precalculus curriculum to engage the seniors in relevant financial mathematics (for our own sanity). So, instead of working in silos, let's join together and create a common plan.
I am half-way through the list in making the check in phone calls. My intentions are good, then life happens. I will get to everyone soon. Know that you do not have to wait for me to call you to chat - text, call, or email any time and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Junior teachers of Algebra 2 students - please review your gradebooks for students who currently have an A or B average and might be interested in attending the summer precalculus class (6 weeks - 4 hours a day) so they can enroll in calculus or AP Calculus during 12th grade. This topic will be discussed more at the department meeting on April 21.
