In this activity, we explored how to meaningfully personalize mathematics instruction by first administering a Google Form survey to students, asking them to share their hobbies and interests. After collecting their responses, we input the survey data into ChatGPT, an AI tool, and used it to generate individualized math assessments. Each assessment was tailored to include the student’s hobbies—such as basketball, music, robotics, or art—embedded into word problems that focused on solving systems of equations. By doing this, we created a set of unique, two-question assessments that were not only mathematically rigorous but also personally engaging for each student. This process showcased how AI can be leveraged to connect curriculum to student interests, increasing relevance and motivation in the math classroom.
