Lightspeed Updates- Block Checker and Site Requests

Gmail- Schedule Send

It has been a busy two weeks. New platforms such as ParentSquare, Lightspeed Classroom, and Navigate360 have each come with their challenges and learning curves. We are working hard to meet with teachers, answer your emails, and create support materials to help you.

It has been great to see that ParentSquare is starting to be used in meaningful ways throughout the district. If you need help with ParentSquare, we have collected and RE-organized various questions and answers on our new parentSquare support page.

Lightspeed Updates

Lightspeed AccessScan Agent- Block Checker

If you want to check to see if something you want to use will be blocked by Lightspeed Filter, use the Lightspeed AccessScan Agent which has been added to your Google Chrome Extensions. It will tell you if the page or video is allowed, and what links are blocked.

To use the AccessScan Agent, click the light blue hyperlink icon in extension bar of your Chrome Browser (you must be signed in with your Google Account). Enter any student's email address, and click "Scan page."

If you need a site allowed or blocked, create a ticket in IncidentIQ (see below). Remember to checkout our Lightspeed resource page for more information or visit their resources on their Teacher Training page.

Lightspeed Filter- Requesting Site Access

If you find a site or video that needs to be allowed, or one that needs to be blocked, fill out a ticket in IncidentIQ:

New Ticket > Software/Online Systems > Lightspeed Filter > Filtering Issues:

  • Sites are blocked that should not be
  • Sites are not blocked that should be
  • Web Traffic not Moving

Lightspeed Filter- Content Blocked for a Teacher

Teacher permissions are different from students. If you visit a website and receive the error on the LEFT, the Lightspeed Agent failed and your computer needs to be restarted.

If you get the screen on the RIGHT, the site is blocked for teachers. If you believe this site should be unblocked, request it to be allowed.

Tech Tip of the Week

Gmail- Schedule Send

We all get emails at all hours of the day (and night), and many of us will try to answer these whenever we can. However, it is important to set work boundaries, and not let people think you will ALWAYS respond to emails as soon as they send them.

If you decide to answer emails outside of your work schedule, and your response is not time sensitive, consider Scheduling your send. For example, you receive an email at 10:30 PM from a parent, and you just happen to see it. You have the time and desire to respond, but instead of sending it immediately, schedule it for the next morning at 7:00 AM.

Schedule send can be found in the "drop-up" menu next to the Send button.
