January 2022 edition

Welcome to Tiger One, the online collection of K-12 technology resources that can be integrated into any classroom.

Has the thought of teaching remote got you feeling stressed? Remember that the Homepage of Tiger One contains our CFCSD Instructional Menu for Digital Learning, which contains links to resources on common district-wide approved and supported tools, such as Google Classroom, Loom, Zoom, and more! ~AO

Story Jumper allows students to drag and drop thousands of text fields, props, design characters, scenes, photos, or custom uploads onto their free book design. They can also record themselves reading their book, insert background music, and collaborate with peers. Teachers easily create an account, import their classes from Google Classroom, and create an assignment. Find great writing projects and lesson plans here. ~AO

Google Classroom is great, but it is lacking a few keys features. Schoolytics is FREE, and allows you to get (among other things):

  1. Student Progress Reports

  2. Track Assignment Tags

  3. Student Work Submissions

  4. Create Student Groups

  5. Reuse Assignments

Here you can find more information, including how to sync your classes, as well as some helpful guides for teachers. ~AO

I hate how new Google Forms submissions appear at the bottom of the Google Sheets Responses tab. I've tried to solve this problem multiple different ways over the years, with no luck. But finally, I've found something that is pretty easy to set up, and works for having new Google Forms submissions appear at the top of the Google Sheet. ~AO

If you are looking to send an email to all students in a particular building, or a particular grade, try using one of our new Student Distribution Groups. These groups synchronize automatically each night so students are automatically added, removed, and moved between groups to match their enrollment information. ~AO

In September of 2021, changes to Google Workspace for Education occured that removed the ability for students under the age of 18 to embed YouTube videos in their Google Slides presentations. This video demonstrates how to take a screenshot on a Chromebook to get a thumbnail of the video, and then how to insert it into Google Slides to create a hyperlink. ~AO
